About this scholarship
KAIST International Undergraduate Scholarship for Fall 2027 entry: full tuition exemption for 8 semesters, KRW 350,000 per month in living expenses and medical health insurance, awarded automatically with admission to applicants who tick 'KAIST Scholarship' in the admission application. The Regular Admissions Fall Track runs 10 November 2026–14 January 2027. Placed in category 12 as a university-wide entrance scholarship, like UBC, Toronto, McGill and Auckland; note that KAIST majors are STEM-heavy.
Minimum requirements
Applicants for KAIST International Student Admission (non-Korean citizens); first-year applicants only. No separate scholarship application: applicants check 'KAIST Scholarship' in the Statement of Financial Resources section of the online admission application, and admitted students selected through the admission review are automatically entitled to the KAIST Scholarship. Recipients must maintain a GPA over 2.7 out of 4.3 at KAIST after their freshman year. Regular Admissions Fall Track: application and document submission 10 November 2026–14 January 2027, 6:00 PM KST; recommendation letter submission by 21 January 2027, 6:00 PM KST; interview online if required on 3 March 2027; admission announcement 25 March 2027, 10:00 AM KST. The Early round closed 22 October 2026. Application fee approximately USD 80 (per secondary sources; confirm on the application portal).
Application checklist
- Apply for KAIST international undergraduate admission in the Regular Admissions Fall Track (10 November 2026–14 January 2027, 6:00 PM KST)
- Tick 'KAIST Scholarship' in the Statement of Financial Resources section of the online admission application (there is no separate scholarship process)
- Arrange the recommendation letter by 21 January 2027, 6:00 PM KST
- Prepare for an online interview if required (3 March 2027; only selected applicants are contacted)
- Maintain a GPA above 2.7 out of 4.3 after the freshman year to retain the scholarship
Application tips
- Do not look for a separate scholarship form — the scholarship is awarded automatically with admission to applicants who tick the KAIST Scholarship box.
- The Early round closed 22 October 2026; only the Regular Fall Track (to 14 January 2027) remains for Fall 2027 entry.
- The GPA retention rule (above 2.7/4.3 after freshman year) is a real condition, not a formality — plan coursework accordingly.
- Note the STEM focus: KAIST is a science and technology institute, so this university-wide entrance scholarship sits in category 12 as an entrance award, but its majors are STEM-heavy.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
