About this scholarship
Italian Government (MAECI) scholarships for international students for master's, PhD, research, AFAM and Italian language courses at recognised Italian institutions, applied for only through the Study in Italy portal. The 2027–28 call had not been published as of 29 October 2026, so the March 2027 deadline and €900 monthly allowance are previous-cycle ESTIMATEs.
Minimum requirements
International students for master's degrees, PhD programmes, research projects, AFAM (arts, music and dance) courses or Italian language courses at recognised Italian institutions. Applications only via the Study in Italy portal. Italian-taught courses require B2 Italian under the previous call's terms. The 2027–28 call had not been published as of 29 October 2026; the previous 2026–27 call closed 26 March 2026 at 14:00 Italian time.
Application checklist
- Wait for the 2027–28 call on the Study in Italy portal (expected early spring 2027)
- Confirm the eligible course type: master's, PhD, research, AFAM or Italian language course at a recognised Italian institution
- Confirm language requirements (Italian-taught courses require B2 Italian under the previous call)
- Apply only through the Study in Italy portal
- Do not use any other channel: the previous call accepted applications only via the portal
Application tips
- Do not submit anything yet — the 2027–28 call is not published; monitor the Study in Italy portal from early spring 2027.
- If you plan an Italian-taught course, secure B2 Italian certification in advance rather than waiting for the call.
- Check that your chosen institution is recognised under the call before preparing documents.
- The previous call closed at 14:00 Italian time, so treat the time-of-day deadline as binding when the new call appears.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
