About this scholarship
Two-year English-language Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Global Forestry preparing graduates to deal with forestry's contemporary challenges in biodiversity protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the circular bio-economy, with Erasmus Mundus scholarships awarded to the top applicants.
Minimum requirements
Relevant bachelor's degree or another relevant degree at the same educational level. Non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss citizens apply through the University of Copenhagen portal; no application fee applies when applying for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Global Forestry. Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are awarded to the top applicants in a two-stage assessment: academic excellence 70%, personal motivation 10%, relevant work experience 10%, recommendations 10%; academic excellence must score 4 or higher out of 5 to advance, and any of the other three criteria scoring below 3 ends assessment. Scholarship assessment is separate from admission assessment; admission can be offered without a scholarship. The official procedure page still shows the 2025 cycle (portal opened 15 November 2024, deadline 15 January 2025, offers late February to mid-March 2025); the 2027 cycle follows the same annual pattern, so the January 2027 deadline is a previous-cycle ESTIMATE.
Application checklist
- Confirm the 2027 cycle dates on the official Global Forestry application pages (the procedure page still shows the 2025 cycle)
- Prepare a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
- Prepare an official transcript of grades with stamp and signature (or digital verification) and calculate GPA in percentage with the programme's GPA calculator where required
- Prepare a CV of maximum 3 pages, a motivation letter of about 500 words, proof of English proficiency and a copy of the passport or national ID
- For the Erasmus Mundus scholarship: upload two letters of recommendation (at least one academic, on letterhead with full referee contact details) and proof of country of residence not more than 6 months old
- Create the application in the University of Copenhagen application portal (maximum 3 applications across UCPH faculties for the same intake)
Application tips
- Treat academic excellence as the gate: the scholarship's first assessment stage requires a score of 4 or higher out of 5 on academic excellence, or the application is not assessed further.
- Make the motivation letter do double work — it is used both for admission and for the 10% personal-motivation scholarship criterion, and should justify the chosen mobility track.
- Do not submit more than 3 applications across University of Copenhagen faculties for the same intake; additional applications are cancelled.
- Only upload the required documentation — the programme states it evaluates only required documents.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
