About this scholarship
SLU tuition-fee scholarships for outstanding fee-paying international students admitted to the Bachelor's in Forest and Landscape or an eligible Master's programme as first choice, covering tuition fees only for the programme duration. The official page still shows the 2026 cycle (first-choice deadline 2 February 2026, scholarship deadline 27 February 2026); the 2027 window was pending at verification on 7 October 2026, so the February 2027 deadline is a previous-cycle ESTIMATE.
Minimum requirements
Fee-paying international students admitted to SLU's Bachelor's programme in Forest and Landscape or to an eligible Master's programme as first choice. Excluded Master's programmes: Outdoor Environments for Health and Well-Being, Erasmus Mundus Plant Breeding (emPLANT+), European Master in Animal Breeding and Genetics (EMABG), EnvEuro and Sustainable Development. A scholarship covers tuition fees only; no living or travel expenses are included. The application fee must be paid even when applying for a scholarship. Selection is based on a combined assessment of the motivation letter and previous university grades; no CV or reference letters are required. Only about 1% of applicants receive the scholarship. Recipients must be able to support themselves financially for the residence permit (living-expense requirement at least SEK 10,584 per month for applications received on or after 1 January 2025).
Application checklist
- Apply for an eligible SLU Master's programme or the Bachelor's in Forest and Landscape as first choice through UniversityAdmissions.se
- Pay the application fee (SEK 900 where payable) — it cannot be waived even for scholarship applicants
- Watch for scholarship instructions sent at the beginning of February to applicants who applied as first choice and paid the fee
- Submit the scholarship application (motivation letter assessed with previous university grades; no CV or reference letters required)
- Pay the tuition fee even if a scholarship is applied for (refund possible if the scholarship is granted) and be able to support yourself financially for the residence permit
Application tips
- Rank an eligible SLU programme first — only first-choice applicants receive the scholarship instructions.
- Write a strong motivation letter: selection rests on the motivation letter plus previous grades, with no CV or references to compensate for a weak letter.
- Check the exclusion list before applying: Outdoor Environments for Health and Well-Being, emPLANT+, EMABG, EnvEuro and Sustainable Development are not eligible.
- Budget living costs separately — the waiver covers tuition only, and the residence permit requires proof of funds (at least SEK 10,584 per month under the rule in force from 1 January 2025).
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
