About this scholarship
Residential fellowships of 30 or 31 days at the Bogliasco Study Center in Liguria, Italy, for artists and scholars across thirteen disciplines, with full room and board and a workspace; approximately 60 fellowships per year. The Foundation states that it does not provide funding, grants or scholarships beyond the residency itself.

Not awarded to students currently enrolled in a degree-granting programme. Previous recipients must wait five years before reapplying. Fellows must be able to speak conversational English. Children cannot be accommodated; overnight visits by friends, colleagues or family are not possible; pets are not allowed except service animals. The kitchen can accommodate vegetarian, pescatarian and gluten-free diets but not more restrictive needs (including kosher, coeliac or vegan diets). - Application fee $30 up to one week before the deadline, $45 thereafter, by credit card
Application tips
- Pick the semester that fits your project: Fall 2027 closes 1 December 2026, Spring 2028 closes 11 March 2027, and residencies cannot be deferred.
- Make sure your referees upload their letters by the deadline — late reference letters are not the Foundation's problem to chase.
- If a spouse or partner will accompany you, budget the $35 daily fee and note that children, pets (except service animals) and overnight guests cannot be accommodated.
- Previous Bogliasco Fellows must wait five years before reapplying, and first-time applicants are preferred when rankings are equal.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
