About this scholarship
Visiting scholar fellowship for senior policy-oriented scholars and faculty from Kuwait at Harvard Kennedy School's Middle East Initiative, for one semester or one academic year, combining a study group or research project with Harvard residence.
Minimum requirements
Senior policy-oriented scholars or faculty from Kuwait: from Kuwait, residing and working in Kuwait, or formally affiliated with a Kuwait-based institution. Fellows lead a study group (4-7 sessions) or conduct a research project during the stay.
Application checklist
- Confirm your Kuwait connection: from Kuwait, residing/working in Kuwait, or formally affiliated with a Kuwait-based institution
- Decide between leading a study group (4-7 sessions) or conducting a research project
- Choose one semester or one academic year within 1 September 2027 - 30 June 2028
- Arrange recommendations for email delivery to the MEI coordinator by 15 December 2026
- Submit the application before 1 December 2026
Application tips
- Recommendations go by email to the MEI coordinator, not through the standard portal flow, so confirm the address on the official page before asking referees.
- A study-group proposal (4-7 sessions) is a concrete deliverable: draft session topics, not just a research theme.
- Decisions arrive by 27 February 2027, later than the other Belfer fellowships, so plan around that date.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
