About this scholarship
One-year design studentship stimulating design capability among the country's most able graduates for the benefit of UK industry, for a Master's in design or engineering with an industrial design focus.
Minimum requirements
Resident in the UK and intending a career benefiting UK industry; good first degree normally in engineering, science or design (other degrees considered); normally recently graduated; must have obtained admission to, but not yet started, a suitable postgraduate course normally in the UK leading to a Master's in design or engineering with an industrial design focus.
Application checklist
- Secure admission to (but do not start) a suitable UK postgraduate course in design or engineering with an industrial design focus
- Confirm UK residence and an intended career benefiting UK industry
- Check your degree fits: normally engineering, science or design; other degrees are considered case by case
- Submit the completed application before 12pm BST on 21 April 2027
- Keep June 2027 free for interviews
Application tips
- Admission must be obtained but the course must not yet have started, so time your application around the studentship deadline, not the course start.
- A second year is only supported if the course itself demands it and the first year is satisfactory, so do not budget for two years by default.
- London Weighting (GBP 4,000) applies only where applicable; confirm it with the course location.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
