Damon Runyon Quantitative Biology Fellowship Award (December 2026 deadline)
The Damon Runyon Quantitative Biology Fellowship Award funds postdoctoral researchers pursuing joint computational (dry lab) and experimental (wet lab) training in quantitative biology. Applicants need two mentors — one dry lab and one wet lab — and three references from individuals other than the mentors. Applications close 1 December 2026 at 16:00 ET, the selection meeting is 26 February 2027, and awards begin the first day of April, May or June 2027. No stipend figure appears in the checked official guidelines excerpt, so the amount is honestly left unstated. Filed in 02 as a computational-biology award.

About this scholarship

Minimum requirements
Doctoral degree conferred 1 December 2021 to 1 December 2026; joined the mentor's lab on or after 1 December 2024 (not more than 24 months in the mentors' labs before the deadline); two mentors (one dry lab, one wet lab); three reference letters from qualified individuals other than the mentors.
Application checklist
- Confirm the doctoral degree was conferred between 1 December 2021 and 1 December 2026
- Confirm you joined the mentor's lab on or after 1 December 2024 and have not been in the mentors' labs more than 24 months before the deadline
- Secure two mentors (one dry lab, one wet lab), both completing mentor forms
- Secure three reference letters from qualified individuals other than the mentors (for PhD holders, one preferably from the thesis advisor)
- Prepare the joint training plan (max 2 pages), NIH-format biosketches, mentorship track records (10 years), applicant letter (about 2 pages), one-page personal statement, long-term commitment statement (one paragraph), research proposal (max 5 pages) plus a 250-word innovation paragraph and a 250-word computational-challenges paragraph, and a diploma copy — and submit via ProposalCentral by 1 December 2026 at 16:00 ET
Application tips
- The dual-mentor rule is the defining feature: line up one dry-lab and one wet-lab mentor early, since both must complete forms before submission is possible.
- The 24-month lab-tenure ceiling is strict — if you joined before 1 December 2024, you are ineligible for this cycle.
- Three references must come from people other than the mentors, so do not list a mentor as a referee.
- The proposal needs two separate 250-word paragraphs (innovation, and computational challenges) on top of the 5-page limit — write them as distinct pieces, not as afterthoughts.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
