Minimum requirements
Outstanding non-EU/EEA students applying to a UvA master's programme. Faculty of Science: not an EU/EEA or Swiss national; not eligible for Dutch study grants or the reduced EEA tuition rate; not holding a full-coverage scholarship for the same period; first-time admission to a UvA MSc; previous programme completed no longer than 3 years ago; top 10% of graduates (GPA 3.5 American, 1st class honours British, 8+ Dutch). Humanities (LLAMS): non-privileged background, first-time student at a Dutch university, complete application for a one-year non-selective English-taught master's at the Graduate School of Humanities (Research and Dual master's excluded), no other scholarship held.
Application checklist
- Submit a complete master's application by 15 January 2027 (23:59 CET for Law and Humanities)
- Faculty of Science: tick the UvA scholarship box on the master's application form; top-10% record, previous programme completed no longer than 3 years ago, motivation letter maximum 500 words, CV with extracurricular activities
- Humanities (LLAMS): submit the SIS master's application by 15 January 2027, 23:59 CET, indicate LLAMS, and complete the LLAMS form within 2 weeks of the mid-February invitation; certified documents by 1 August 2027; full-time enrolment by 31 August 2027
- check the chosen faculty's page for its own additional requirements
Application tips
- Apply faculty-first: there is no single university-wide amount or route, and each faculty awards its own AMS on its own terms.
- For Science, budget for full tuition separately: the EUR 26,125 grant is paid monthly and does not waive tuition.
- For LLAMS, hold a conditional offer by mid-February, since the LLAMS form is only sent to conditionally admitted candidates.
