About this scholarship
Cambridge Trust scholarships for overseas PhD students, covering international tuition, maintenance, visa cost and immigration health surcharge, with up to 6 months' additional maintenance for writing up. There is no separate scholarship form for most awards: applicants are considered through the course application by its funding deadline.
Minimum requirements
Applicants from countries other than the UK or Ireland with overseas fee status, applying for a Cambridge PhD. No separate scholarship form for most awards: consideration runs through the course application and its funding section. About 60 awards for 2027/28. The Trust also funds MPhil study through other awards, but this entry covers the Cambridge International Scholarships (PhD) route.
Application checklist
- Apply for a Cambridge PhD course through the Applicant Portal and complete the funding application section
- Submit the complete application, including references, by 23:59 GMT on the course's funding deadline (8 December 2026 or 6 January 2027)
- Check the funding deadline on the exact course page in the postgraduate course directory, since it varies by course
- check official page for any course-specific additional funding process
Application tips
- Do not use the general admission deadline: a course may accept applications into spring, but funding consideration ends on the course funding deadline.
- Confirm which of the two main dates (8 December 2026 or 6 January 2027) applies to the chosen course before arranging references.
- Note that the Trust does not fund premium courses such as the MBA and MFin, nor a degree at the same or lower level than one already held.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
