Application checklist

  • Apply to the chosen PhD course
  • Discuss the proposal and DLA application with the proposed supervisor(s), who must provide advice and a supporting statement (the supervisor/PGR Director provides the AHRC DLA Application Form and EDI Form if they support the application)
  • Submit the DLA studentship application, EDI form, and supervisor supporting statement by midday 15 February 2027
  • Printouts and other forms not accepted

Application tips

  • The supervisor's supporting statement is mandatory — discuss the proposal with your supervisor first, as they provide the application form.
  • The 'How to apply' section prints '16 February 2026' — a stale typo; the timeline table gives 15 February 2027 twice, which governs.
  • Offers go to the top 2 applicants on 12 April 2027 (3 student-led awards possible if no Collaborative Doctoral Award is selected).
  • A separate Collaborative Doctoral Award (Marianne Straub textile design, with the Warner Textile Archive) is advertised but its competition is not yet launched — do not confuse it with the student-led call.
