About this scholarship
Three AHRC Doctoral Landscape Award studentships at the University of Liverpool for October 2027 entry, via a two-phase Expression of Interest and full-proposal process.
Minimum requirements
Usually both an undergraduate and a master's course (applications with non-UK qualifications welcome, assessed via NARIC; official translation required for non-English transcripts); open to Home and International (including EU and EEA) candidates; only Home-rate fees funded but Liverpool waives additional international fees for DLA students; maximum 30% international (one studentship in 2027); current students who have already commenced PhD programmes ineligible — only prospective PhD students may apply.
Application checklist
- Expression of Interest form by 11 December 2026 (candidate details; indicative PhD project title; preliminary abstract max 300 words; previous qualifications; 'Preparedness for Postgraduate Research' against five criteria; supervisory team details if known; signed acknowledgement; Equal Opportunities monitoring form — no further documentation at this stage)
- Shortlisted candidates contacted early February 2027 and invited to submit a full Research Proposal (max 1,500 words including references/bibliography) by 9 April 2027 plus 2 references and academic transcripts, and a University of Liverpool admissions application
Application tips
- The 11 December 2026 deadline is for the Expression of Interest only — the full proposal comes later for shortlisted candidates.
- Address all five 'Preparedness for Postgraduate Research' criteria explicitly.
- No extra documents at EOI stage — additional documents will not be considered.
- International applicants benefit from Liverpool's waiver of the additional international fees.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
