About this scholarship
Profile-based full scholarships at the Hertie School covering 100% of tuition fees for the MPP, MIA and Master of Data Science and AI for Public Policy, awarded on academic excellence, suitability, motivation and financial need.
Minimum requirements
Admission to a Hertie MPP, MIA or Master of Data Science and AI for Public Policy programme; academic excellence, personal suitability, motivation and financial need; supplemental essay in most cases; only one full scholarship per year per applicant
Application checklist
- Programme application for MPP, MIA or MDS by Early Bird (1 December) or Priority Deadline (non-EU/EEA 15 January; EU/EEA 15 February)
- Admission offer (required before any scholarship application)
- Funding Application within two weeks of the admission offer
- Supplemental essay for the chosen full scholarship (in most cases)
- Apply for only ONE full scholarship per year (full and partial may be applied for together)
- Check individual scholarship page for specific requirements
Application tips
- Treat the admission deadline as the real deadline: you cannot apply for a scholarship until admitted, and then have only two weeks to file the Funding Application
- Choose exactly one full scholarship — Hertie bars applying for more than one full scholarship per year, so pick the profile fit (e.g. security policy, human rights, climate) deliberately
- Non-EU/EEA applicants should target the 15 January priority deadline rather than the later EU/EEA date
- Note that 'full' here means 100% of tuition only; plan living costs in Berlin separately
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
