About this scholarship
US federal loan repayment for final-year primary-care health students: up to $120,000 in exchange for three years of full-time service at an approved site in a shortage area.
Minimum requirements
Final-year student in medicine (allopathic or osteopathic), dentistry, nurse-midwifery, physician assistant or physician associate, or nurse practitioner primary-care training; in exchange, three years of full-time service at an NHSC-approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area
Application checklist
- Read the official FY2027 application and programme guidance PDF
- Confirm final-year status in an eligible discipline
- Prepare loan documentation as specified in the guidance
- Submit the application through the HRSA portal by the deadline
- Check official guidance for any citizenship or service-site documentation
Application tips
- This is loan repayment, not a tuition scholarship: it pays down existing student loans after training.
- Only apply if you will accept three years of full-time service in a shortage area — that commitment is the core of the award.
- Read the full guidance PDF, not just the summary: instalments, service rules and penalties are defined there.
- Final-year status matters: earlier-year students are not eligible for this cycle.
Always verify deadline, amount and eligibility on the official page before applying. Values marked ESTIMATE are based on a previous cycle and are not confirmed for the current round.
